Exploring the Design Space of a Declarative Framework for Automated Negotiation: Initial Considerations

چکیده
In this paper we present our results on the exploration of the design space of a declarative framework for automated negotiation by: (1) identifying a minimal yet viable generic negotiation protocol and a declarative way of representing rules and constraints specific to negotiation mechanisms and strategies; (2) identifying the need of a set of basic concepts for describing negotiations that form a core negotiation ontology that the agents can use to reason about the negotiations; (3) proposing Belief-Desire-Intention (BDI) agents as an implementation model of our framework. We introduce both a conceptual framework for declarative specification of automated negotiations as well as a prototype implementation using the Jason agent programming language.

Exploring Novice Raters’ Textual Considerations in Independent and Negotiated Ratings
Educators often employ various training techniques to reduce raters’ subjectivity. Negotiation is a technique which can assist novice raters to co-construct a shared understanding of the writing assessment when rating collaboratively. There is little research, however, on rating behaviors of novice raters while employing negotiation techniques and the effect of negotiation on their understandin...
متن کاملAn Implementation Model of a Declarative Framework for Automated Negotiation
The subject of automated negotiations has received a lot of attention in the Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) research community. Most work in this field on the auction design space, on its parametrization and on mechanisms for specific types of auctions. One of the problems that have been recently addressed consists in developing a generic negotiation protocol (GNP) capable of governing the interacti...
متن کاملA Software Framework for Automated Negotiation (Revised and Updated)
If agents are to negotiate automatically with one another they must share a negotiation mechanism, specifying what possible actions each party can take at any given time, when negotiation terminates, and what is the structure of the resulting agreements. Current standardization activities such as FIPA [2] and WS-Agreement [3] represent this as a negotiation protocol specifying the flow of messa...
متن کاملArchitecting for Reuse: A Software Framework for Automated Negotiation
If agents are to negotiate automatically with one another they must share a negotiation mechanism, specifying what possible actions each party can take at any given time, when negotiation terminates, and what the resulting agreements will be. The current state-of-the-art represents this as a negotiation protocol specifying the flow of messages. However, they omit other aspects of the rules of n...
متن کاملAn Infrastructure for Rule-Driven Negotiating Software Agents
Most strategy-enabled automated negotiation platforms use hard-coded, predefined, and non-adaptive negotiation strategies. This is evidently insufficient in regard to the ambitions of automated negotiations research. In this paper, we introduce INSULA, an infrastructure for representing, managing, and exploring negotiation strategies that is versatile, easy to use, and that encompasses a wide s...
